Like every year for 11 years now, in May, Elba is preparing to host thousands of bikers and sportsmen for one of the most awaited events, especially by mountain bike lovers: The Capoliveri Legend Cup. Surely if you too are Two-wheel enthusiasts will know what we are talking about: it is a mountain bike race that takes place on the tracks where the Grundig World Cup was held in 1994, during which the legendary John Tomac and Ned Overend challenged each other until the last meters of path. Over the years, the competition has acquired more and more fame and value, so much so that it has become an international race and, for five years, the official event of the UCI World Marathon Series world championship.
For each edition, the route on Monte Calamita is meticulously prepared by the staff of the Capoliveri Bike Park: what makes this race unique is certainly the great variety of routes, from breathtaking descents, to technical routes, to old railway roads between the mines, all united by an incredible natural landscape overlooking the sea.
Every edition, the level is very high, and the participants who compete on the 80 km of the route are thousands, including many champions.
A unique emotion for those who participate, but it is also a great emotion for those who have the opportunity to watch the race, the cloud of bikers ready at the starting line, the winner who is the first to cross the finish line in the village, and the great party organized throughout Capoliveri.
For 2020 the days dedicated to the event will be 8-9 and 10 May. So if you are a biker ready to test yourself and enter the LEGEND, but also simply a visitor curious to witness what is a real spectacle, all you have to do is book your stay on Elba.
