Maybe it's because the Capoliveri Legend Cup, the Elbaman, the Iron Tour Triathlon Road or the Toscano Enduro Series take place here...the island has a sporting soul which is evident in the golf courses, open-air gyms such as the spas of San Giovanni, to the modern padel court in Portoferraio, as well as in the numerous gyms and sports fields scattered throughout the various locations.
SAILING, WATER SPORTS AND FISHING
Do water sports drive you crazy? You are in the right place! in most beach establishments you can rent SUP boards, canoes, windsurfs and much more…
Discover the sea at 360° with motor boat, dinghy and catamaran rentals. Let's not forget the numerous sailing schools for both experts and beginners, with the possibility of courses to obtain a sailing license within 12 miles, as well as the numerous trips organized with professional skippers who will accompany you to discover our wonderful coasts and those of the Tuscan archipelago. A paradise also for snorkelling lovers, Elba offers many places where you can admire rocky or sandy seabeds full of fascinating marine creatures. It's impossible not to mention the dives to the Eviscot wreck lying at a depth of 12 meters and the dive to the Scoglietto, a biological protection area for 50 years! We also remember that from Marina di Campo it is possible to reach, with special boats, the island of Pianosa, managed by the Park Authority which protects biodiversity on land and at sea, a true national natural heritage, where through authorized diving it is possible to carry out diving activities snorkeling as well as diving.
Experiment with sport fishing, which is also really appreciated by expert fishermen thanks to our rich seabed, but pay attention to the rules of the Harbor Office: we respect the sea and its ecosystem!
LAND SPORTS
In recent years, Free Climbing has also become widespread on the island and can currently be practiced both on the Costa del Sole and on the Costa dei Gabbiani. For lovers of two wheels there are many activities organized on the island for freeriding, downhill or enduro.
For those who want to enjoy fantastic views without experiencing the adrenaline rush of extreme sports, we remind you that in the main bike parks on the island there are various paths accessible to everyone, of varying difficulty and duration. The best equipped area is certainly the eastern one, with the Capoliveri Bike Park and the Elba Gravity Park in Rio where the contact between the slope and the sea will take your breath away! There are possibilities for everyone, even for amateurs and the most lethargic, thanks to the numerous E-bike rentals created in recent years, we recommend the E-ROCKS - Moving Rents school in Portoferraio.
There are also numerous equestrian centers and there are various routes available on horseback on the island, be enchanted by the wonderful views of Monte Calamita, Monte Perone or the Costa dei Gabbiani where the A.S.D center inside the Tenuta delle Ripalte deserves mention.
For those who want to stay with their feet on the ground, we remind you that trekking is king: in a few kilometers you go from the coast to the hills, from thick Mediterranean scrub to wonderful villages. The most important route on the island is the Grande Traversata Elbana (GTE), suitable for regular walkers, to be avoided in the height of summer, it runs in both directions and can be divided into several stages. It starts from the center of Cavo up to Monte Capanne, where the route branches off in two directions: one towards Pomonte and one towards Patresi. We remind you that 50% of our territory is within the National Park, of which approximately 300 km of paths. Worthy of mention are the path that leads from Marciana Marina to Sant'Andrea, the Carmignani walk that connects the center of Porto Azzurro to Barbarossa or from Barbarossa to the Terranera lake, the itinerary that from Rio nell'Elba leads to the fortress of Monte Giove, the small Enfola ring, Path 103 which leads from Marciana to Chiessi or the Sentiero della Salute which leads from the wonderful Biodola beach to Procchio. Adults and children, Elba offers paths suitable for everyone!
Let's dispel the taboo that golf is an elite sport. If you want to try a new experience, lulled by the scents of the Elban vineyards immersed in the greenery of our countryside with breathtaking views towards the sea, numerous instructors are waiting for you for lessons at the Acquabona Golf Club or at the Hermitage Golf Club.
If you don't want to be left empty-handed and golf is not one of your interests, we remind you that on the island you can experience the unmissable thrill of racket sports! The Clus tennis courts in the area are different: Portoferraio, Marina di Campo, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro and Rio ELba. The Padel Club has also been active for a few years, a sport suitable for anyone where fun is guaranteed!
Finally, the Arcieri del Mare give us the opportunity to discover archery, a less shared sport but with a strong tradition in our territory, of which the best-known variant is "country shooting", a mix between trekking and shooting with the actual bow. Abandon stress and take a full immersion in our wonderful and fresh woods!
